You can regularly see eagles flying by off the back deck and down by the river fishing for salmon.
A pair of eagles made their nest here in 2008. The chicks hatched in May and made their first flight in late August. You could see them easily with the naked eye, but we setup a spotting scope for our guests to provide the ultimate wildlife viewing experience. The eagles did successfully raise two eaglets here that year.
All these pictures are taken from the back deck of the lodge.
Delivering some food.
Watching them bring food the to the babies is so cool!
A smooth landing...
We put the camera on the spotting scope for this one.
A typically beautiful sunset. The eagle is perched on top of the left middle tree.
You can see the Anchor River and Mt. Iliamna. What a great place to watch the sunset.
